Tututha Secondary school began in 1981 as a mixed day Secondary School with a student population of less than a hundred students. At its inception, the school was situated at the present day Tututha Primary school. In 1993, under the leadership of Mr. Muthama, the school then moved to its current station. By then, the school comprised of four classes of which, one class was used as staffroom and administration offices. The population of students was about a hundred. The teachers totaled six and subordinate staff were three.
The first examination class sat for their KCE examination in 1984. The population then grew, due to the demand for education, to about one hundred and fifty students, all day scholars. In 1989, the first 8.4.4 group sat for their KCSE examination as the school continued to grow in population and infrastructure. With time, a boarding wing for both boys and girls was introduced to cater for their learning needs.
The school has had seven principals since it began, with the current on Dr. Patrick Wambua, steering a population of more than five hundred students, twenty-nine teachers and fifteen subordinate staff. Currently Tututha secondary School is well equipped with a computer lab, Science lab, dormitories, staff quarters, classes etc. all of which are geared to facilitate learning and thereby continuously improving performance in the national examination.
